We went to the release party and reading for this great new book at Littlefield last Tuesday.  There were some fantastic readers there including one of my This American Life crushes, Starlee Kine.
The stories were all great, as would be expected - well written, funny, touching, beautiful.  I am not usually a huge fan of comics or graphic novels, as I feel the illustrations usually do not live up what I picture in my head.  This night was an exception.  As each reader told their story, illustrations were projected on a screen behind them.  Illustrator and editor of Post-It Note Diaries, Arthur Jones captures little moments from the stories perfectly.  Drawn on the ubiquitous yellow post-it with black sharpie, these drawings complement the stories and add subtle emotion without just “illustrating” what is going on.
I highly recommend.
